According to a Love messageboard, Arthur Lee has died. There's no confirmation from an official news source yet but the report is plausible. The 61-year-old had been suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Lee was one of the great 'lost' artists of the Sixties. His work was enormously influential - Robert Plant and Syd Barrett both acknowledged his influence on their music. Plant headlined a recent benefit show to raise money to pay Lee's medical bills. He was joined by Ryan Adams, Ian Hunter, Yo La Tengo and others.
In recent years, he had begun to perform again following a period of relative obscurity. He will be much missed.
