For a while there it looked as if I might be wrong. West Ham put up one hell of a fight, taking the lead twice, but a late equaliser from Stephen Gerrard sent the match to penalties. We all know that penalties are a lottery but they aren't if you place them as lamely as the West Ham players placed theirs. Liverpool won the shoot-out 3-1. Still, good on West Ham for giving us hope. If we stick with our clubs and get behind them, perhaps we too could lose a cup final to one of the big boys. Maybe, if we're really lucky, a millionaire could take over our club and, like Wigan, lead us all the way to mid-table.
Boy, modern football is a world of opportunity, isn't it?
