Metacritic has a fantastic guide to the albums of the year for 2006. They list the top albums based on the reviews given when they were released: top is Ali Farka Toure's Savane, followed by Orphans by Tom Waits and Hell Hath No Fury by The Clipse, all of which averaged more than 90 per cent in reviews. After that they have a round-up of end-of-year lists from 18 different publications. The overall winner is either George Formby's Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not or Bob Dylan's Modern Times, both of which are number one in three lists. However, The Arctic Formbys have a slightly higher average.
Ali Farka Toure doesn't make the top ten in any of the end of year lists.
